Beacon

Upload any school document

We'll translate IEPs, progress reports, 504 plans, evaluations, FBAs, BIPs, prior written notices, and transition plans into plain English. Pick PDF, DOCX, or photos of all pages.

🔒 What we do and don't save

  • We read your upload once and immediately discard the file(s). Nothing is saved to our servers.
  • We do not extract the child's legal name, date of birth, address, phone, or email. We also don't keep the original filename.
  • We only save what helps Beacon support your work: goals, services, accommodations, grade, and school.
  • We keep your breakdown for the life of your account. You can remove it any time.

📸 Only have paper copies?

Snap a photo of each page with your phone, then tap Upload and pick them all from your gallery at once (up to 50pages). We'll read them in order.

Longer than 50 pages? Ask your school for the official PDF. Beacon reads those with no page limit.

IEP Translator

Read a new student's IEP in minutes, not periods

Upload the IEP and Beacon pulls the goals, service minutes and accommodations into one view, so you know what you are responsible for delivering before the student is in front of you.

How it works

  1. 1.Upload the document. PDF, Word, or a photo of the pages. Up to 50 at once.
  2. 2.Beacon reads it. Goals, benchmarks, service minutes and accommodations, pulled out and attributed to the page they came from.
  3. 3.Get your delivery list. What you owe this student each week, and the accommodations that apply in your setting.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get up to speed on an IEP mid-year?
Go to service minutes and accommodations first, because those are what you are legally delivering from day one, then the goals you will be collecting data against. Beacon surfaces those three in that order rather than in document order.
Can I use it to explain an IEP to a family?
Yes, and that is one of the better uses for it. Beacon gives you family-ready wording for a goal or an accommodation, so you can explain it at a meeting without reading the clause aloud.
Is a document I upload here safe?
Upload only documents you are authorized to use, and cover identifying details where you can. Beacon never asks for a full name, nothing from a no-account read is saved, and a read you run signed in belongs to you alone.
What is the difference between an accommodation and a modification?
An accommodation changes how a student accesses the material. A modification changes what they are expected to learn, which can carry diploma consequences, so Beacon labels which is which rather than listing them together.
Is it free and do I need an account?
You can run one read free with no account. A free account gives you one per tool, Standard gives 3 a month, and Plus or Annual is unlimited.
