- Only what you choose to share. Beacon never asks for a student's full name. You describe your class or caseload in a sentence or two when you set up, and you talk about students by first name or initials in the conversation. Beacon will remind you if a full name slips in.
- How is this different from the parent version of Beacon?
- The persona, the tools and the language change. Beacon addresses your students rather than your child, it prepares you for IEP meetings from your side of the table, it drafts messages home to families rather than letters to the school, and it uses professional vocabulary like reinforcement, prompting and task analysis without lecturing you about your own field.
- Which professionals is it built for?
- Special education and general education teachers, paraprofessionals and aides, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, BCBAs, RBTs and tutors. You pick your role at signup and can change it any time in Settings.
- Can I use it for IEP paperwork?
- Yes. You can upload an IEP or an evaluation and get a plain-language breakdown, plus family-ready wording to explain it. Only upload documents you are authorized to use, and cover identifying details where you can.
- What does it cost?
- Beacon is free to use. You get ten messages to start and a few every day after that, and crisis support is always free. If you reach the point where you want more, paid plans are there, but nothing is asked of you up front.
- Is Beacon a replacement for my district's systems?
- No. Beacon helps you prepare, draft and think. Decisions about goals, services and placement belong to the IEP team, and your district's records remain the system of record.
