Upload any school document
We'll translate IEPs, progress reports, 504 plans, evaluations, FBAs, BIPs, prior written notices, and transition plans into plain English. Pick PDF, DOCX, or photos of all pages.
📌 Only upload documents for your own child.
🔒 What we do and don't save
- We read your upload once and immediately discard the file(s). Nothing is saved to our servers.
- We do not extract your child's legal name, date of birth, address, phone, or email. We also don't keep the original filename.
- We only save what helps Beacon support your family: goals, services, accommodations, grade, and school.
- We keep your breakdown for the life of your account. You can remove it any time.
📸 Only have paper copies?
Snap a photo of each page with your phone, then tap Upload and pick them all from your gallery at once (up to 50pages). We'll read them in order.
Longer than 50 pages? Ask your school for the official PDF. Beacon reads those with no page limit.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I read my child's IEP?
- Start with the present-levels and goals sections, then the accommodations. The hard part is the jargon. Upload the document and Beacon rewrites each section in plain English so you can see what the school is actually committing to.
- What is the difference between accommodations and modifications?
- An accommodation changes how your child learns or shows what they know, like extra time. A modification changes what they are expected to learn. Modifications can affect a diploma, so it matters which one is written in. Beacon flags which is which.
- What does my child's IEP actually mean for the school year?
- It is a legally binding plan listing the services, goals, and supports the school must provide. Beacon translates the goals and service minutes into plain language so you know exactly what was promised.
- Can someone explain my IEP without a lawyer or advocate?
- For understanding the document, yes. Beacon explains the goals, terms, and accommodations in plain English so you walk in informed. For disputes, an advocate is still worth it, but most parents just need to understand what they are reading first.
- Is the IEP Translator free and do I need an account?
- You can run one translation free with no account. A free account gives you one per tool, Standard gives 3 a month, and Plus or Annual is unlimited.
