Paperwork tools for special education staff
The documentation is the part of the job nobody gave you time for. Workshop drafts it: pull goals and service minutes off an IEP you have just been handed, write the message home that has to be clear and defensible, prep for a meeting you are sitting on the team side of, or build the plan, story or routine a student needs by Monday. Beacon writes the first draft in the vocabulary you already use, and you keep what fits the student.

Frequently asked questions
- Will it tell me things I already know?
- No. Beacon assumes you know your field. It will not explain what an antecedent is or why baseline data matters. It drafts the document so you can spend the time on the student instead of on the wording.
- How do I get up to speed on an IEP I have just inherited?
- Upload it. Beacon pulls the goals, benchmarks, service minutes and accommodations into one screen, so you can see what you are accountable for delivering before the student walks in, rather than reading forty pages between periods.
- Can it help me prepare for a meeting I am presenting at?
- Yes. The prep tool builds your present-levels summary, the data you are being asked to defend, and wording for a recommendation a family may not want to hear, from the team side of the table rather than from across it.
- Do I have to enter student information?
- No full names, ever. You type a first name or initials for that run only, and it is never stored. Upload only documents you are authorized to use, and cover identifying details where you can.
- What can I make in Workshop?
- Plain-language IEP breakdowns, messages home to families, meeting prep, behavior support plans, social stories, sensory activities, and sleep routines to send home. Each one is built around the student you describe for that run.
- Is this a replacement for my district's systems?
- No. Beacon helps you prepare, draft and think. Decisions about goals, services and placement belong to the IEP team, and your district's records remain the system of record.
